Alumnus of the Year

The School of Science has since 2014 awarded Alumnus of the Year, a person who has for example strenghten the bond between the industry and the School.

The title of Alumnus of the Year is granted to an alumnus for his/hers groundbreaking and/or excellent work, for societal impact and the aspiration to bring focus on the school in a good way. It is wished that the Alumnus of the Year will strenghten the bond between the industrial life and the School.

An Alumnus of the Year can be nominated during the spring by the staff, students and alumni of the School of Science. The School’s departments and guilds can also nominate someone for the title. The Alumnus of the Year is announced in the autumn.

Alumnus of the Year 2015: Dr. Marja-Liisa Siikonen, leader of the People Flow Planning unit at KONE Corporation
Alumnus of the Year 2014: Dr. Rob Blaauwgeers, founder of BlueFors Cryogenics Oy
